One Year Older & (hopefully) Wiser Too

A lot can happen in a year. Boy have I found that out! This past year, 2010-2011, has been one of my favorite years of my life surprisingly. 19 was a good year for me. Here's a quick look at my 19th year:

*I was a counselor for 8 weeks of girls at Oakcrest Girls' Camp*

*I broke my first bone-my fifth metatarsal in my right foot*

*I moved to Snow Lodge Apartments for my second year at Snow*

*I went to Homecoming with a date for the first time*

*I had the best roommates ever :) *

*I went to Lagoon's Frightmares for the first time*

*I had two Thanksgivings and Christmases*

*I graduated from Snow College with my Associate of Science*

*I moved to Orem*

These are just a few highlights from this past year. There are so many more that I could go on forever with, but these are the biggest ones.

My other thought for the week ( you were waiting for it weren't you?) is that you never know the difference you can make in someone's life. Sometimes it takes a lot for someone to get out of their comfort zone and feel  like they can be friends with new people around them. But one person being there for you can make a world of difference. I've been having a hard time feeling like I fit in with the people in my ward. It's different than my Snow College singles wards because during the summer, people stayed and already know each other, whereas during the fall, everyone is getting to know each other or during the Spring (at least in my last ward) everyone was willing to make the new people feel welcome. Right now I just don't feel like I fit in and it's been a hard adjustment for me. As many times as I say this and know it to be true, I know Heavenly Father has a plan for me...I just want to know what it is now! Ugh! Luckily, I listened to Lavell Edwards (for reals!) at a YSA fireside on Sunday and he quoted President Uchtdorf's talk on patience. "Patience is not just sitting and waiting. It's actively moving forward."
I guess for now, I'll just have to keep waiting and keep praying that I'll understand someday.
