My Summer Life
Sleep, work, sometimes eating, and hanging out with Trevor and Michael and their roommates. That’s what it feels like my life consists of right now.
I’m really loving my job. There are times when I go crazy and feel like I can’t do it, like last week. One day I started doing things wrong and I felt so dumb and just didn’t want to be there. Luckily I got over it after taking a break and then talking to a few good reps and customers, making me feel a little better about myself. The times where the reps and techs are more talkative and willing to make conversation with me are the times that make it more enjoyable. Or the times when I have a friend sitting next to me making fun of the dumb things that I say. Oh man. Ready for my most embarrassing moments at work so far?
So I was working on my birthday, and we have this chat system like MSN, and someone else’s status said it was his birthday. I was excited someone else’s birthday was the same as mine and so I messaged him and said, “Is it really your birthday?” “Yup”. I asked him if we had met and between calls he said he stood up and waved to say hi, but the calls kept getting in the way. Finally I stood up and he stood up at the same time, and I was like, “Oh hey” completely embarrassed because for some reason I thought he was someone else. Yeah, completely awkward moment.
My other way awkward/embarrassing moment was when I got a call for a customer that needed to be in Spanish, so I went to transfer the call to another agent that does Spanish calls. He answered, and I said, “Hi, can I get a Spanish QA? (type of call being done, it happens after the install)” “Yeah, I’m sitting right next to you.” The guy sitting next to me, Tyler, and I had talked a little bit since I think that was the first day we had sat by each other, and when he said that, I looked at him and said something like “No way”, got a little embarrassed, and then told him the site number so he could pull up the customer’s account. I felt awkward the rest of my shift. Luckily things aren’t weird still. Now That would be awkward.
I guess my other awkward moment was on Saturday and we had a ton of people here. Supervisors were “floating” around listening for “sizzles.” Sizzles are encouraging statements for us to say like, “How’s your day going?” or “Keep up the good work” and other things like that. Well, we were getting candy for saying sizzles and one of our supervisors told me and my friend Kylie to listen out for each other’s sizzles. We called him over and said we sizzled. She said “Good luck and keep it up” (something like that) and they asked what I said, and I had said, “So how’s the weather out there?” (It was my version of “How’s your day going?”) They just looked at each other and were like, “Okay….that works….” We laugh about it all of the time now. Holy moly. Ha ha. This is why my name is Ink. I embarrass myself and get embarrassed so easily and so often, it’s a little ridiculous. Ha. Ha.
I’m sure this is just the beginning of my embarrassing moments at work. Stay tuned for more to come...
The other part of my life right now has been Trevor Sperry and Michael Kennerson, also known as the guys upstairs-we have our own morse code and go on adventures together. They are so fun to be around! I feel like I can be myself around them and it makes me happy that (from what I have noticed) they feel like they can be themselves around me. Trevor and I also went on a date on Saturday night to Classic Skating. It was so much fun! Disco night baby! :) We danced as we skated and talked and just had a blast!!! We stayed up til 3 AM talking the next day and 1 AM the next day. He also came with me to my family’s Memorial Day gathering. He said he liked my family, and I think they are kinda crazy...I'm happy he survived! Ha ha. All I know is that I love being with him and his roommates, and that we are going to be friends for a long time.
I'm excited for all of the adventures ahead of me this summer, and hope I can continue to learn and figure out why I am here right now.
