Weddings, funerals, and everything in between
So I have been to a lot of wedding receptions and funerals lately. I went to one of each just yesterday. It's interesting to see the different stages of life, especially within such a short time.
It makes me kind of sad thinking about the different funerals I've been to and what that will prove for me later in my life (...my mom) and well, some days are better than others.
I went to the temple today with my ward, and as I was waiting, I got to read this month's Ensign. President Uchtdorf gives a really great First Presidency message called "Always in the Middle". We are always in the middle on an eternal perspective, he says.
"Yes, there will be moments of beginnings and moments of endings throughout our lives, but these are only markers along the way of the great middle of our eternal lives. Whether we are at the beginning or the end, whether we are young or old, the Lord can use us for His purposes if we simply set aside whatever thoughts limit our ability to serve and allow His will to shape our lives."
(Read the whole message here.)
I love this! It just filled me with some hope of an eternal perspective. I want to try and do better. I know I'm not perfect. But I have so much to be grateful for. I hope everyone can give me the benefit of the doubt of becoming better, including myself. I don't have much more else to say than I want to be better and I want to reach those important moments in a way where people will support me and be there for me, as well as so they will want to be here for me now as I get to that point. I want to serve Him better and allow His will to shape me into what He wants me to be and what He knows I can be. I sure don't feel like much right now in my life, but I want to be all I can be for Him.
{Sigh} That's all.
