Just because I'm a Communication Major doesn't mean I'm perfect at Communicating

We are all human and all have our ways we express ourselves. Sometimes we express our emotions or thoughts in ways that we later regret. I know I have done that in my life, and I tend to beat myself up for my mistake. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. It's okay. (I'll talk more about this in a later blog post.) The point to communication is to come to an understanding and change things for the better. You would think as a Communication student I would know everything, but really, we're all human and have to learn and adapt the way we communicate with others. I think as Comm students, we are taught the skills to communicate and in our careers we will be practicing, adapting, and perfecting them to each situation we are placed in. Happy Communicating :)

First impressions and making judgments

I have realized that we as people tend to jump to conclusions and make judgments of others very quickly, especially being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where we are taught to make good judgments of people. Well, I think we also tend to make these judgments incorrectly more times than not. First impressions of people often are good indicators of how people are...actually, I don't believe that anymore. Within the last few years, the first impressions I have had of people have been completely WRONG. People that I have not had the best first impressions of are actually some of the coolest people I have met. For example, there is a person in the PR program that the first I met them, I instantly was rubbed the wrong way. I did not like them one bit, but as I have gotten to know them through interacting with them in my classes, I have come to find they are an incredible person. I would never have come to that conclusion unless I let go of my judgments and...
