Change

I’ve heard that the only thing constant in our lives is change. There is always something new around the corner, and we have to learn to adapt to it. We get so used to how our lives are going and so when things change, it takes time to adjust. I think change is healthy. If we stay in the same place forever, I feel we would get stuck and not progress. Change can be hard to handle if it caused a lot of emotional damage or strain. Even just getting used to a new schedule of a new semester of school can be hard. Something that really helps me adjust to change is doing my best to keep an eternal perspective. We are living here in mortality. It was meant to be a test. Heavenly Father knew it wouldn't be easy, but He gave us the knowledge that we have to try and ease our burdens. The knowledge of being able to live with Him again and how the hard things in this life are only for a short time. That phrase, "for a short time" reminds me of the prophet Joseph Smith. He was...

Right Things, Right Times, Right Places

Have you ever heard how important it is to be doing the right things, at the right times, and in the right places? I had a really cool experience this past weekend that I want to share with you. So I'm trying my best to make it to the temple once a week, especially since I live so close to so many. It was Saturday night, and I realized that I hadn't made it yet. The temple was closed by the time I was leaving a friend's apartment, but I decided to go and sit outside. I was pondering and praying and had been sitting there for awhile, when this girl came out, and sat on the bench I was sitting on. I thought at first she had just sat on the other end, but then I realized she sat right next to me when she turns to me and says, "I normally don't bother people when they're meditating, but I felt like I should come talk to you." (She might have said "I wanted to come talk to you", but I honestly just remember this gist). Kind of startled but surpr...
