Embarking My Life

There are so many things in our lives that we have to choose. I could go on all day about the choices we make. One of the most important things I think we have to choose is how we feel about life. It's important to choose good things, good emotions like happiness, especially when we have every reason to not want to feel those things. I feel I've had many times in my life to choose everything BUT to be happy. I think when we can choose to be happy at these times, it's the most important to do so. I just wanted to tell you that today I choose to be happy. I've seen miracles this week, I made mistakes this week, but I've been trying to do my best and I know I'm doing an alright job at it.  Thank you Positive Outlooks. Happy Friday.  

I have always been a member of the church but never had any real desire to serve a mission. Well, I should say serving a mission was never part of my original plans for my life. My world changed when my mom passed away in 2009. I graduated high school and then moved to Ephraim for my first year of college down at Snow College. During the next summer in 2010, I worked at Oakcrest LDS girls' camp , and this opened my eyes to the Gospel in a way it never had before. I knew it was true before, but now I had a passion and excitement about it. I wanted to share my happiness with everyone.  Almost another year later, I was getting ready to transfer from Snow to UVU. I was really struggling with dating and just wanted to serve a mission, but I was only 19, and at that point still, sisters could only go at 21. Welcome to my first blog post of 2014! I meant to write sooner, but I spent some time with my family, worked quite a bit and then started my last semester of my undergraduate career this week! It's been crazy! You know, life is about constant change. If we're staying the same, there is no progression. Growing, changing and moving on in our lives is what time is all about. It can be exciting and frustrating at times. For those of us who travel, especially on the roads of Utah with construction work, there are often times detours along our journey that we just have to take. We can't avoid them, and we can't just go the way we were going to in the first place because it's not going to be the same. Our lives are much like these roads with detours. We're all on our own paths on the journey of life. Many times we'll be going down one path in our lives and think it's the right way to be going, and then life gives us a detour. A sudden death, a serious ill...
