Rose Colored Glasses and Red Flags
Love is a crazy emotion and does a lot of crazy things to us. Many times when we're infatuated or twitterpated with someone, we wear rose-colored glasses and only see the things that we want to see. We see people in the best way possible and have a hard time seeing the bad things about them, including red flags.
Red flags are warning signs that something could be wrong that could make your relationship hard. Some red flags can be if the other person does anything that loses trust or has qualities that we are not willing to negotiate living with.
As I've talked to some friends the last couple months about how easy it is to not see the red flags about other people, I came up with an analogy. The analogy is that we can't see the red flags because they are the same color as our rose colored glasses. It takes other people's perspective to help us see the red flags and help us see past only the good things we see.
I'm not saying that we shouldn't give people the benefit of the doubt and see them the best we can. I am saying that this could be a reason behind why it's hard for us to see the not-as-good things in other people. It's just something to be aware of when we want to be with someone. Are we really seeing the whole picture? Or are we only seeing what can be seen through our rose colored vision?
