Believe-Act-Serve-Endure
This summer I have had the awesome opportunity to work as a BASEcamp guide again. It is an incredible program that can be described as:
The Lord's pattern for the youth to come closer to Christ.
You might ask- what is the Lord's pattern? Let me share with you.
A BASEcamp when climbing is a part halfway up the mountain. It's a resting place and where you rejuvenate to help prepare you for the rest of your climb.
BASE is an acronym for Believe Act Serve Endure. As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we learn how to climb the mountains of life. We have learned how to climb well, not without difficulties along the way. We need a place to rest and feel a spiritual boost to help us have energy to make the rest of our climb. BASEcamp is a place for youth of today to find that. We learn together, play together, and teach together.
Still wondering what the pattern is?
When we believe, that gets us started on our climb. It's more than just accepting a truth. Once we have a belief in the Savior, we can act on our beliefs. Acting is doing something because of our beliefs. It's going forth building and strengthing our faith. Once we have a firm belief for ourselves and can act on our beliefs, we can go out and serve others. We lift and help others without judgment in the best ways that meet their needs. Serving helps us endure to the end. Each day that we continue to increase our faith and help those around us, it helps us push forward. Enduring is not just continuing forward but doing so with faith and patience that the Savior will help us, during good times and bad times.
I know that as we follow this pattern, our lives will be blessed. We will fortify those around us and become a better disciple of Christ.
